This Privacy Notice for Reed AI Ventures Inc. (doing business as Reed AI) ("we," "us," or "our"), describes how and why we might access, collect, store, use, and/or share ("process") your personal information when you use our services ("Services"), including when you:

  • Download and use our mobile application (Reed AI), or any other application of ours that links to this Privacy Notice

  • Use Reed AI App. The first natural language learning app purpose-built for neurodivergent families. It bridges the progress gaps between therapy, school and home by transforming everyday communication into sensory learning experiences so kids can learn faster, understand more, and feel more understood in daily life.

  • Engage with us in other related ways, including any marketing or events

Questions or concerns? Reading this Privacy Notice will help you understand your privacy rights and choices. We are responsible for making decisions about how your personal information is processed. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Services.

What personal information do we process? When you visit, use, or navigate our Services, we may process personal information depending on how you interact with us and the Services, the choices you make, and the products and features you use. See Section 1.

Do we process any sensitive personal information? We do not require you to provide sensitive personal information, for example your racial or ethnic origins, sexual orientation, and religious beliefs.  However, depending on how you use the Services, you (and any invited therapist or other Authorized Professional) may choose to enter information that may be considered “sensitive” or “special” in certain jurisdictions (for example, information about learning progress or other therapy-related items). If you choose to provide such information, we process it only to provide and administer the Services, protect the safety and security of the Services, and comply with law. See Sections 1 & 2.

Do we collect any information from third parties? We do not buy personal information about you or your child from data brokers. We may receive limited information from service providers you use in connection with the Services (for example, payment confirmation and subscription status from our payment processor) and from an Adult Account Holder when they invite an Authorized Professional (such as a therapist) to access a Learner’s experience. See Section 1.

How do we process your information? We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, communicate with you, for security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law. We may also process your information for other purposes with your consent. We process your information only when we have a valid legal reason to do so. See Section 3.

In what situations and with which parties do we share personal information? We may share information in specific situations and with specific third parties, as identified in more detail below. See Section 5.

How do we keep your information safe? We have adequate organizational and technical processes and procedures in place to protect your personal information. However, no electronic transmission over the internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information. What are your rights? Depending on where you are located geographically, the applicable privacy law may mean you have certain rights regarding your personal information. See Sections 10 & 12.

How do you exercise your rights? The easiest way to exercise your rights is by contacting us at support@meetreed.ai. We will consider and act upon any request in accordance with applicable data protection laws. See Sections 17 & 18.

KEY DEFINITIONS

“Adult Account Holder” means the adult who registers for and owns a Reed AI account (typically a parent or legal guardian). The Adult Account Holder controls account settings, Learner profiles, and any invited Authorized Professionals.

“Learner” means a child who uses the learning and communication features through a Learner profile under an Adult Account Holder’s account. Learners do not independently register or own accounts.

“Authorized Professional” means an adult invited by the Adult Account Holder to access a Learner’s experience (for example, a therapist, caregiver, or educator). Authorized Professionals only receive access granted by the Adult Account Holder and must use the Services in accordance with this Privacy Notice and our Terms.

1. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?

Personal information you disclose to us

In Short: We collect personal information that you provide to us.

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you register on the Services, express an interest in obtaining information about us or our products and Services, when you participate in activities on the Services, or otherwise when you contact us. personal information that we collect depends on the context of your interactions with us and the Services, the choices you make, and the products and features you use. The personal information we collect may include the following:

We collect the following categories of personal information that you provide to us:

  • Adult Account Holder account information (such as name, email address, phone number, and login/authentication credentials).

  • Subscription and billing information (processed by our payment processor; we receive confirmation and subscription status).

  • Learner profile information provided by the Adult Account Holder (such as nickname, age range/band, and avatar).

  • Linking/security information (such as one‑time passcodes and related technical identifiers used to link a Learner session/device).

  • Authorized Professional invitations and collaboration information (such as invited therapist name/email and any notes or inputs they add where the Services allow).

  • Communications and support information (such as messages, feedback, and information you provide when you contact us).

  • We may also make inferences drawn from any of the collected personal information listed above to tailor the Services or refine our profile of you.


Information automatically collected

In Short: Some information — such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address and/or browser and device characteristics — is collected automatically when you visit our Services.

We automatically collect certain information when you visit, use, or navigate the Services. This information does not reveal your specific identity (like your name or contact information) but may include device and usage information, such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, operating system, language preferences, referring URLs, device name, country, location, information about how and when you use our Services, and other technical information. This information is primarily needed to maintain the security and operation of our Services, and for our internal analytics and reporting purposes.

Like many businesses, we also collect information through cookies and similar technologies. You can find out more about this in our cookie disclosures and choices (where required).

The information we collect includes:

  • Log and Usage Data. Log and usage data is service-related, diagnostic, usage, and performance information our servers automatically collect when you access or use our Services and which we record in log files. Depending on how you interact with us, this log data may include your IP address, device information, browser type, and settings and information about your activity in the Services (such as the date/time stamps associated with your usage, pages and files viewed, searches, and other actions you take such as which features you use), device event information (such as system activity, error reports (sometimes called "crash dumps"), and hardware settings).

  • Device Data. We collect device data such as information about your computer, phone, tablet, or other device you use to access the Services. Depending on the device used, this device data may include information such as your IP address (or proxy server), device and application identification numbers, location, browser type, hardware model, Internet service provider and/or mobile carrier, operating system, and system configuration information.


2. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY (COPPA) AND PARENT/GUARDIAN CONSENT

In Short: Reed is designed for child (Learner) use under Adult Account Holder control, and we comply with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) where it applies. Learners do not independently register or own accounts.

Verifiable parental consent. When an Adult Account Holder creates a Learner profile and links a Learner device/session to the Adult Account Holder’s account (for example, using a one‑time passcode), the Adult Account Holder is providing consent for Reed AI to collect and use the Learner’s information as described in this Privacy Notice in order to provide the Services. We do not condition a Learner’s participation on providing more information than is reasonably necessary to participate in the Learner experience.

No targeted advertising in the Learner experience. We do not permit interest‑based advertising in the Learner experience and we do not allow third‑party advertising networks to collect personal information from Learners for advertising purposes.

Parent/guardian rights and choices. The Adult Account Holder may request access to Learner information associated with their account, request deletion of a Learner profile or the entire account, and revoke any Authorized Professional’s access at any time. We may need to verify your identity and your authority to act for a Learner profile before fulfilling a request.

If you believe a child is using the Services outside of an Adult Account Holder account, please contact us using the information in the “Contact Us” section.


3. HOW DO WE PROCESS YOUR INFORMATION?

In Short: We process your information to provide, improve, and administer our Services, communicate with you, for security and fraud prevention, and to comply with law. We process the personal information for the following purposes listed below. We may also process your information for other purposes only with your prior explicit consent.


We process your personal information for a variety of reasons, depending on how you interact with our Services, including:

  • To facilitate account creation and authentication and otherwise manage user accounts. We may process your information so you can create and log in to your account, as well as keep your account in working order.

  • To deliver and facilitate delivery of services to the user. We may process your information to provide you with the requested service.

  • To respond to user inquiries/offer support to users. We may process your information to respond to your inquiries and solve any potential issues you might have with the requested service.

  • To send administrative information to you. We may process your information to send you details about our products and services, changes to our terms and policies, and other similar information.

  • To request feedback. We may process your information when necessary to request feedback and to contact you about your use of our Services.

  • To protect our Services. We may process your information as part of our efforts to keep our Services safe and secure, including fraud monitoring and prevention.

  • To evaluate and improve our Services, products, marketing, and your experience. We may process your information when we believe it is necessary to identify usage trends, determine the effectiveness of our promotional campaigns, and to evaluate and improve our Services, products, marketing, and your experience.

  • To identify usage trends. We may process information about how you use our Services to better understand how they are being used so we can improve them.

  • To comply with our legal obligations. We may process your information to comply with our legal obligations, respond to legal requests, and exercise, establish, or defend our legal rights.

  • To utilize customer data for profiling and automated decisions that could have legal or significant personal effects. To provide personalized learning experiences (e.g., age-appropriate content, settings, and progress insights) and to support parent-initiated therapist access where authorized.

In Short: We process personal information to provide the Services, operate and secure the Services, communicate with Adult Account Holders, and comply with law.

We process personal information to: (a) create and manage accounts and Learner profiles; (b) provide learning and communication features; (c) enable parent-authorized access for an invited Authorized Professional; (d) provide customer support; (e) maintain safety, security, and fraud prevention; and (f) comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.


We provide this notice primarily for U.S. users. If you are located outside the United States and have questions about lawful bases or cross-border transfers, please contact us using the details in the Contact Us section.


5. WHEN AND WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

In Short: We may share information in specific situations described in this section and/or with the following third parties.

We may share your data with Authorized Professionals invited by an Adult Account Holder (such as therapists), limited to the Learner(s) and information the Adult Account Holder has granted access to, for the purpose of supporting that Learner’s experience.


Vendors, Consultants, and Other Third-Party Service Providers

We may share your data with third-party vendors, service providers, contractors, or agents ("third parties") who perform services for us or on our behalf and require access to such information to do that work. The third parties we may share personal information with are as follows:

  • AI Service Providers: OpenAI, Google Gemini and Deepgram

  • Cloud Computing Services: Amazon Web Services (AWS)

  • Functionality and Infrastructure Optimization: Supabase, Expo and Vercel

  • Invoice and Billing: Stripe

  • Web and Mobile Analytics: posthog and Google Analytics

  • Website Hosting: Squarespace

  • Website Performance Monitoring: OpenTelemetry

  • App hosting / edge deployment / infrastructure Service: Vercel

  • Backend / database / authentication services Service: Supabase

  • Mobile app platform / build & delivery Service: Expo

  • Application hosting / cloud infrastructure Service: Amazon Web Services (AWS)

  • Product analytics (in-app): Posthog

  • AI / LLM processing Service: Open AI, Google Gemini

We also may need to share your personal information in the following situations:

  • Business Transfers. We may share or transfer your information in connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.

6. DO WE USE COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES?

In Short: We may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect and store your information.

We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies (like web beacons and pixels) to gather information when you interact with our Services. Some online tracking technologies help us maintain the security of our Services and your account, prevent crashes, fix bugs, save your preferences, and assist with basic site functions.


We also permit third parties and service providers to use online tracking technologies on our Services for analytics and advertising, including to help manage and display advertisements, to tailor advertisements to your interests, or to send abandoned shopping cart reminders (depending on your communication preferences). The third parties and service providers use their technology to provide advertising about products and services tailored to your interests which may appear either on our Services or on other websites.


To the extent these online tracking technologies are deemed to be a "sale"/"sharing" (which includes targeted advertising, as defined under the applicable laws) under applicable US state laws, you can opt out of these online tracking technologies by submitting a request as described below under section "DO UNITED STATES RESIDENTS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?"

Google Analytics. We may share your information with Google Analytics to track and analyze the use of the Services. The Google Analytics Advertising Features that we may use include: Remarketing with Google Analytics, Google Display Network Impressions Reporting and Google Analytics Demographics and Interests Reporting. To opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics across the Services, visit https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. You can opt out of Google Analytics Advertising Features through Ads Settings and Ad Settings for mobile apps. 7. DO WE OFFER ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE-BASED PRODUCTS?

In Short: We offer products, features, or tools powered by artificial intelligence, machine learning, or similar technologies.


As part of our Services, we offer products, features, or tools powered by artificial intelligence, machine learning, or similar technologies (collectively, "AI Products"). These tools are designed to enhance your experience and provide you with innovative solutions. The terms in this Privacy Notice govern your use of the AI Products within our Services.


Use of AI Technologies

We provide the AI Products through third-party service providers ("AI Service Providers"), including Amazon Web Services (AWS) AI, OpenAI, Google Cloud AI and Deepgram. As outlined in this Privacy Notice, your input, output, and personal information will be shared with and processed by these AI Service Providers to enable your use of our AI Products for purposes outlined in "WHEN AND WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?" You must not use the AI Products in any way that violates the terms or policies of any AI Service Provider.

How We Process Your Data Using AI

We instruct our AI service providers to process personal information only to provide the Services to us and not to use Reed AI personal information to train their general-purpose models, except where you have provided any required consent or we have provided notice as required by law.


How to Opt Out of AI Data Use

We believe in giving you the power to decide how your AI data is used. To opt out, you can:


  • Users can opt out of AI processing by not using AI-powered features and by denying or revoking permissions (e.g., microphone, camera, location) in their device settings. Parents/guardians can also request deletion of the account and associated data by contacting us.

  • Contact us using the contact information provided below

  • Log in to your account settings and update your user account

8. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?

In Short: We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Notice unless otherwise required by law.


We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Notice, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements). No purpose in this notice will require us keeping your personal information for longer than twelve (12) months past the termination of the user's account.


When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information, or, if this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.


9. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?

In Short: We aim to protect your personal information through a system of organizational and technical security measures.

We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information. Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, transmission of personal information to and from our Services is at your own risk. You should only access the Services within a secure environment.


10. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?

In Short: Depending on your state of residence in the US or in some regions, such as Canada, you have rights that allow you greater access to and control over your personal information. You may review, change, or terminate your account at any time, depending on your country, province, or state of residence.


In some regions (like Canada), you have certain rights under applicable data protection laws. These may include the right (i) to request access and obtain a copy of your personal information, (ii) to request rectification or erasure; (iii) to restrict the processing of your personal information; (iv) if applicable, to data portability; and (v) not to be subject to automated decision-making. If a decision that produces legal or similarly significant effects is made solely by automated means, we will inform you, explain the main factors, and offer a simple way to request human review. In certain circumstances, you may also have the right to object to the processing of your personal information. You can make such a request by contacting us by using the contact details provided in the section "HOW CAN YOU CONTACT US ABOUT THIS NOTICE?" below.  We will consider and act upon any request in accordance with applicable data protection laws.


Withdrawing your consent: If we are relying on your consent to process your personal information, which may be express and/or implied consent depending on the applicable law, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us by using the contact details provided in the section "HOW CAN YOU CONTACT US ABOUT THIS NOTICE?" below.


However, please note that this will not affect the lawfulness of the processing before its withdrawal nor, when applicable law allows, will it affect the processing of your personal information conducted in reliance on lawful processing grounds other than consent.


Account Information

If you would at any time like to review or change the information in your account or terminate your account, you can:

  • Contact us using the contact information provided.

  • Log in to your account settings and update your user account.

  • To delete an account (or request deletion of a child profile), email us at privacy@meetreed.ai from the Adult Account Holder’s email address.

Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases. However, we may retain some information in our files to prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, assist with any investigations, enforce our legal terms and/or comply with applicable legal requirements.


Cookies and similar technologies: Most Web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove cookies and to reject cookies. If you choose to remove cookies or reject cookies, this could affect certain features or services of our Services. For further information, please see our cookie disclosures and choices (where required).


11. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES

Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no consistent industry standard, we do not respond to all such signals in a uniform way. You can manage cookies through your browser settings and, where offered, our marketing-site cookie controls.


12. DO UNITED STATES RESIDENTS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?

In Short: Depending on your state of residence, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information we maintain about you; to opt out of certain processing (such as targeted advertising or the “sale”/“sharing” of personal information as defined by some state laws); and to appeal certain decisions. Adult Account Holders may exercise these rights for themselves and for Learner profiles under their account, subject to applicable law.


How to submit a request. You (as an Adult Account Holder) can submit a request by contacting us using the details in the Contact Us section. We may need to verify your identity and your authority to act for a Learner profile before fulfilling a request.


Opt-out of targeted advertising / sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information. We do not permit interest-based advertising in the Learner experience and we do not allow third-party advertising networks to collect Learner information for advertising purposes. If we use marketing measurement cookies on our marketing website, you can manage those cookies through your browser settings and, where offered, our marketing-site cookie controls.


Non-discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.


Appeals. Where applicable, you may appeal our decision by replying to our response or contacting us using the details in the Contact Us section.


13. SENSITIVE INFORMATION

Please do not submit sensitive personal information through free-text fields unless it is necessary for your intended use of the Services. Sensitive information may include government identification numbers, financial account details, or detailed medical information. If users choose to submit sensitive information, we will process it in accordance with this Privacy Policy and apply appropriate safeguards.


14. AFFILIATE, REFERRAL, AND INCENTIVE PROGRAMS

We may offer referral, affiliate, promotional, or incentive programs. If you participate, we may collect information to administer the program, such as your name, email address, referral/affiliate code, reward status, and information needed to prevent fraud and comply with law.  If rewards are processed through a third party, that provider may process additional information under its own privacy notice.


15. RESEARCH STUDIES AND DE‑IDENTIFIED INFORMATION

We may conduct research studies to evaluate and improve the Services (for example, studies on learning outcomes or usability). Participation is voluntary and, where required, we will provide additional notices and obtain consent from the Adult Account Holder before collecting additional information for research.

We may use de‑identified or aggregated information for research and analytics.


16. DO WE MAKE UPDATES TO THIS NOTICE?

In Short: Yes, we will update this notice as necessary to stay compliant with relevant laws.


We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Revised" date at the top of this Privacy Notice. If we make material changes to this Privacy Notice, we may notify you either by prominently posting a notice of such changes or by directly sending you a notification. We encourage you to review this Privacy Notice frequently to be informed of how we are protecting your information.
